Odisha: 4 former woman Maoist leaders tie Rakhi to Malkangiri Superintendent of Police

Malkangiri: Four woman ultra leaders, who had previously joined the mainstream of society, tied Rakhi to Malkangiri Superintendent of Police (SP) Nitesh Wadhwani today.

On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, the four women symbolically wished for the well-being of all policemen for the latter’s sacrifices in protecting civilians of the State. They also wished long life of the cops.

The former Maoists are Chitrakonda Area Committee member Kaushalya Khila, Kalimela leader of the red rebel faction Sangeeta Khara, member of the outlawed CPI (M) in Padia Nangi Kurmi and the party member in Tulasi hill region Aite Kartami, a source said.

According to the source, the former ultras applied Chandan Tika on the SP’s forehead and offered Arati as per typical Raksha Bandhan rituals and sought his blessings.

They were dreaded Maoists in the past days, who had given sleepless nights to the district police.

Notably, Malkangiri SP requested the Maoists who are active these days to join the mainstream and assured them to provide all amenities to lead a normal life, as per Government provisions.
