Bhubaneswar: The authorities of Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) at Burla in Sambalpur district of Odisha have constituted a four-member committee to probe the clash between the students of the institute and the medicos of MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur on July 4.
The team comprising Paediatric department professor Prakash Panda, Medicine department professor Mamata Murmu, FMT department faculty member Satyasai Panda and Anatomy department professor Mamata Sar will submit its report in three days, said VIMSAR Director Barsha Tudu today.
“We will take appropriate action after going through the probe report,” Tudu added.
The Burla police earlier registered a case in connection with the clash that took place at VIMSAR on July 4. The case was registered under Sections 147, 148 and 149 of the IPC as per an FIR lodged by the authorities of VIMSAR, sources said.
As per the complaint, the students of MKCG Medical College and Hospital had visited VIMSAR to participate in an inter-college cultural event on July 4.
The students of VIMSAR allegedly attacked the students of MKCG over some trivial issues. The attackers reportedly sprayed fire extinguisher on the medicos of MKCG. Nine students sustained injuries in the incident, sources said.
