Odisha: 5 college students among 8 held over ganja trafficking

Bhubaneswar: Nandapur police in Koraput district of Odisha today claimed to have arrested eight persons, including five college students, in connection with ganja trafficking.

The arrested college students have been identified as Sadanand Guntha of Daleiput, Bhisma Guntha, Jogesh Khada, Damodar and Dambarudhar Khara of Arlaput. The other three arrested persons are Laxmidhar Khila of Katwa and Rahul Kumar and Saddam Hussain of Champaran in Bihar, police said.

According to police, the five college students led by Sadanand were transporting 35 kg ganja in a car to deliver the same to Laxmidhar, a middleman.

Laxmidhar was supposed to deliver the ganja to Rahul Kumar and Sadam Hussain of Bihar at Damanjodi Railway Station in Koraput district, said Nandapur police Inspector In-Charge Prafulla Lakra.

“We have registered a case in this regard under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The arrested will be produced in a local court,” Lakra added.
