Odisha’s 5-T Secretary reviews progress of work at Pandit Utkalmani’s birthplace

Puri: The Secretary of 5-T programme VK Pandian today reviewed the progress of different works at Suando village, the birthplace of Pandit Utkalmani Gopabandhu Das, in Puri district today.

During a surprise visit to Suando this afternoon, Pandian stayed for half an hour and held discussion with Puri Collector Balwant Singh, Additional Collector Prdaeep Kumar Sahu, Satyabadi Tehsildar Kasturi Pradhan and other officials. He also paid floral tributes to Pandit Utkalmani.

Source said works on preservation of ‘Sathi Ghara’, establishment of museum and construction of a two-lane road up to Suando are likely to be taken up within one month.

A local said if the much-awaited development work at Pandit Utkalmani’s birth place is carried out in full swing, tourists will get attracted to this place. This will in turn improve the economic growth of locals, he added.
