Odisha: 5T Chairman directs to complete Puri Srimandir Parikrama project by Dec 15

Puri: Nabin Odisha and 5T Chairman VK Pandian directed to complete the ongoing Srimandir Parikrama project in the religious town Puri by December 15, 2023.

Visiting Puri in the early hours today, Pandian reviewed the progress of Srimandir Parikrama project. He directed the project authorities to expedite the work and complete it by December 15.

He also directed to accelerate renovation of various mutts at Srikhetra Puri. He suggested to work in collaboration with all the stakeholders by giving importance to the history and traditions of the mutts during the restoration.

Pandian suggested planting various indigenous trees and shrubs associated with Jagannath culture in the landscaping work of the Parikrama project. Apart from this, he also suggested that small replicas of the temple be built near the Meghnad wall. He directed to keep the road connected to the temple block-free so that the pilgrims coming for darshan of the Lord can reach the temple without any obstacle.

Besides, the retired bureaucrat directed to make adequate arrangements for parking of two-wheelers for the convenience of locals and servitors. He also stressed on the need for shifting of various materials from near the Meghnad wall and timely completion of electricity arrangements for the Parikrama project.

Pandian also reviewed the progress of the Jagannath Ballabh parking work, development of various facilities being made for the passengers, the progress of the work of Pramod Udyan and Shree Setu bridge project and directed to complete the work on time. For this, he advised to deploy more people.

On Friday, Puri King Gajapati Dibyasingha Deb said that the much-awaited Srimandir Parikrama project will be dedicated to people on January 17 next year.

He said that special havan and puja rituals will be conducted on the occasion.

“The Shree Jagannatha Heritage Corridor is nearing its completion with the blessings of Lord. We reviewed the work around the temple. It has been proposed to be inaugurated on January 17,” said Dibyasingha Deb, who is also the chairman of the Shree Jagannath Temple Management Committee (SJTMC).

The Chief Administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), Ranjan Kumar Das and Puri collector, Samarth Verma were also present during the review.
