Bhubaneswar: Actress Prakruti Mishra, who fell prey to cyber bullying after posting a brand endorsement photograph recently, has finally come out to give the wrongdoers a tit-for-tat. She lodged a complaint with Mancheswar police against web portal 'New Odiya One' last evening alleging harassment and defamation.
In the complaint, the National Film Award winner stated that with an intention to malice her image, the web channel wrongfully created unethical stories further leading to disrespectful comments about her family and closed ones.
"This sort of deliberate and intentional insult against me and my family is going to have an adverse effect on my career. Due to such derogatory act by a section of unscrupulous people, we are receiving phone calls and being harassed by people. This has also put my parents under enormous psychological stress," she stated in the FIR.
Prakruti, who was recently seen in MTV reality show 'Ace of Space 2' and played lead role in Hindi daily soap 'Bitti Business Wali', further contended, " being a professional actor, endorsement and collaboration with brand is part of my work portfolio. It is unlawful on the part of the local news portal to circulate wrongful and misleading information about me or my family. This propaganda of defamation and harassment is a threat to my hard-earned reputation and most importantly my mental health."
The actress requested the police to take appropriate steps for investigation under IT Act/Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the owner and other erring staff of the channel.
She also took to her Instagram handle and shared photocopy of the FIR copy. Captioning it, Prakruti said, “cyber bullying is not acceptable. If it is happening with you, please speak up and expose those people taking help of police and other law enforcement agencies.I hope this step of mine will help journalists, individuals and news portals create an environment of positivity and not spread negative, misleading information!
