Odisha actress Rashmirekha’s death: Live-in partner Santosh dies by suicide in Rourkela!

Rourkela: In a major development in the Odia TV serial actress Rashmirekha Ojha death case, her live-in partner Santosh Patra was found hanging at his house in Basanti Colony here, late last night.

Though the reason behind his death was yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that he ended his life by hanging himself.

On being informed about the incident by his neighbours, Udit Nagar police reached the spot, recovered the body for post-mortem and initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances under which he died.

Santosh was recently arrested in the case after being questioned by the Twin City Commissionerate Police in Bhubaneswar.

He had returned to his house in Basanti Colony after being released from jail on bail.

Santosh and Rashmirekha were reportedly in a live-in relationship and later got married. The two were residing at a rented house in Gadasahi area under Nayapalli police limits in Bhubaneswar.

Rashmirekha’s body was found hanging from a ceiling fan inside the house on June 18 night.

Rashmirekha’s father had alleged the involvement of Santosh in the incident.

“We had telephoned her on Saturday evening but she didn’t receive the calls. Later, Santosh informed us about her death. We came to know from the landlord of the house that Santosh and Rashmi were living as a married couple. We have no idea about her marriage,” Rashmirekha’s father had said.

Police had found a note kept on a table near the body. It is being suspected that the note was written by the actress before she ended her life by hanging herself. It has been mentioned in the note that no one should be held responsible for her death.

In the note, Santosh has been seemingly referred as ‘San’. “I Love You, San. I don’t want to leave you. Forget me. Stay happy. I am a bad girl,” the note read.

Rashmirekha’s father has been requested in the note not to blame Santosh over her death. “I won’t spare anyone if anything happens to Santosh,” the note read.

Rashmirekha, who hailed from Sanketpatana under Tirtol police limits in Jagatsinghpur district, had come to Bhubaneswar after completing +2 course for pursuing a career in acting.

She became popular with her role in serial ‘Kemiti Kahibi Kaha’.
