Bhubaneswar: Ashok Kumar Patnaik, Additional SP, Rairangpur, Mayurbhanj district succumbed to COVID-19 while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Odisha capital yesterday.

According to reports, the police official underwent COVID-19 test on September 13 in Bhubaneswar as he developed the symptoms. He tested positive for the virus and was admitted to a COVID Hospital in Baripada.

As his condition deteriorated, he was later shifted to the KIMS COVID Hospital here. During treatment, the cop was diagnosed with kidney-related ailments.

He breathed his last at the hospital last evening. Officers of the Mayurbhanj District Police expressed grief over the demise of Patnaik.
