Bhubaneswar: As part of reforms in higher education, the State Government today added 'Environmental Study and Disaster Management' to the syllabus of Undergraduate programme.
The new subject will be mandatory for +3 First Year students in Arts, Science and Commerce streams. The 4-unit syllabus will carry 100 marks in first semester examination.
At a cabinet meeting on May 29, 2021, Odisha Government had decided to introduce 'disaster and pandemic preparedness' as part of curriculum in schools and colleges. Accordingly, the State Higher Education Department has revised the existing model syllabus 'Environmental Science' as 'Environmental Study and Disaster Management ', a release stated today.
The revised syllabus will be introduced in Undergraduate courses from this academic session, informed the State Higher Education Minister Arun Kumar Sahoo.
