Odisha ADMO murder: Police nab prime accused

Four days after the brutal murder of Dr Durbadala Mishra, additional district medical officer (ADMO) of the district headquarters hospital in Odisha’s Subarnapur district, police finally managed to arrest the prime accused on Thursday evening, police sources said today.

According to the police, Pratyush Panda, alias Bablu, the prime accused, had fled to Raipur in Chhattisgarh after committing the crime on September 21.

The police had nabbed two of Panda’s accomplices- Ashok Sahu on September 23 and Dipak Sahu on the next day and was on the hunt to catch Bablu.

After successfully tracking his mobile phone, police arrested him from Chamarapada in Sonepur town as soon as he arrived from Raipur last evening.

“The prime accused, during interrogation, told the police that he along with his two associates had stopped Dr Mishra when he had almost reached his house and requested him to provide medicines for a patient admitted to the ward no-36 of the hospital. When Mishra got down from his bike, the trio overpowered him and slit his throat open and hit his face with with an axe”, Subarnapur SP Sara Sharma told media persons this morning.

    It is very sad that a doctor was killed which should not happen but at the same time it is a lesson for others who are after money!
    I have seen many eminent doctors treating at a very nominal fee!
    What made a person to kill a doctor? When doctors give life to others !
