Bhubaneswar: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) will decide the fate of political fortune of former Union Minister and senior Congress leader Srikant Jena, who is now in the eye of storm for allegedly creating indiscipline in the party.

This was decided at a meeting of the Disciplinary Committee of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) held here this afternoon.

As Jena is a former Union Minister and a primary member of the AICC, the OPCC has left the task for its central decision-making body.

“The all media reports about the unruly behaviour of Srikant Jena were discussed in the meeting. As he (Srikant Jena) is a former union minister and member of AICC, the final decision will be taken by AICC,” OPCC Disciplinary Committee Chairman, Hemananda Biswal, told reporters here.

In reply, Jena said he will keep his version with the AICC. “I am not involved any mining scam, or, any scams,” he added.

Jena, a four-time Lok Sabha MP and a political heavyweight in coastal Odisha, on Sunday resigned from all party committees of which he was a member, days after he was removed as Chairman of the party’s poll manifesto committee.

On Dec 6, the AICC had appointed senior party leader Ganeswar Behera replacing Jena in the post.

If the reports are to be believed, Jena had encouraged former Koraput legislator Krushna Chandra Sagaria to rebel against party’s leadership. Later, he stepped down as the MLA.
