Bhubaneswar: Requesting the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to supply adequate quantity of Covid vaccine for 15 days in advance to Odisha, the State government stated it has targeted to vaccinate at least two lakh people daily.
From April 1, 2021, people aged between 45 and 59 years will be vaccinated.
In a letter to the Secretary of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Additional Chief Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Department PK Mohapatra today stated the government is planning to accelerate the vaccination drive so that at least two lakh persons get vaccine daily before hot weather prevails in the State.
Citing insufficient and erratic vaccine supply to the State, Mohapatra said the government was unable to plan vaccination session for 15 days in advance.
He further stated some states are achieving up to three lakh vaccinations daily due to adequate vaccine supply. The letter mentioned there should not be any discrimination between States in supply of vaccines.
Mohapatra informed Odisha has already administered more than 20 lakh doses of vaccine to health care workers, front line workers and age appropriate group citizens.
