Odisha: Air India suspends Bhubaneswar-Bangkok direct flight ops

Bhubaneswar: India’s national carrier Air India temporarily suspended its direct flight service from Bhubaneswar to Bangkok starting from today due to operational reasons, an official said.

The Air India has suspended direct flight service from Bhubaneswar to Bangkok from today (July 16) till September 30 due to “operational reasons”, said Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) Director Suresh Chandra Hota.

He further said,”There is no information when Air India will resume its operations on the route.”

The Air India had started its maiden Bhubaneswar-Bangkok flight on December 10, 2017. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had flagged off the first flight operation at the city airport.

The flight was operating on every Thursday, Saturday and Sunday in a week.

The first direct international flight from Bhubaneswar to Kuala Lumpur started on April 26 last year. The low-cost carrier Air Asia launched a flight from Bhubaneswar to Kuala Lumpur on the same day.

The Bhubaneswar airport had got the international tag on October 31, 2010.
