Sambalpur: A mutilated body of an Odia album artiste was found under a bridge of the Mahanadi River near Goira Matha here in the district today.

The deceased identified as Simran Singh has acted in several Sambalpuri music videos.

The locals spotted the body this morning and informed the police.

The body was lying with multiple injury marks on head and face. A leather bag was also found near the body.

Receiving information from the locals, the Burla police reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem.

Though the exact cause behind the death of Simran is yet to be ascertained, initial reports suggested it as 'murder'.

A probe has been initiated into the incident.
