Odisha: Ambulance swept away in nullah; narrow escape for driver

Rourkela: In a bizarre scene, an ambulance was spotted being swept away by strong water current in a nullah at Gurundia village in Sundargarh district. However, the driver of the vehicle managed to save himself from getting drowned in the watercourse.

Sources said Bibhisan Patra was washing the ambulance in the nullah at around 8.30 AM today, when large volumes of rain water suddenly gushed into the water body. Due to strong water current, Bibhisan was swept away along with the vehicle. After a while, he jumped off the vehicle and managed to swim ashore.

Later,  on receiving information, a firefighting team rushed to the spot and rescued the driver besides recovering the ambulance that was stuck in the nullah.

Sources added that the ambulance was purchased with money sanctioned from District Mineral Foundation (DMF) funds and engaged  at a Government hospital at Gurundia.
