Odisha among top 6 best performing states in COVID-19 positivity rate

Bhubaneswar: Odisha, which is leading in the country in terms COVID-19 testing, is among the top six best performing states as far as the positivity rate is concerned.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare today placed Odisha in sixth position in the list best performing states in the country  in terms of COVID-19 positivity rate.

The positivity rate is the percentage of people, who test positive for the virus, of those overall who have been tested.

“The lower the positivity rate is better. As more and more testing is being conducted in Odisha with the number crossing 50,000-mark per day, the lesser number of people being tested COVID positive is the hallmark of a good performing state,” said release issued by the Government.

As per the data, Odisha’s positivity rate stands at 6% as against the national average of 8.69 %.

“Odisha is performing much better than large states like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Bihar, Assam and Gujarat. The sustained and robust COVID management efforts by the state Government is
resulting in such good performance in the fight against COVID-19,” the release added.
