Odisha announces 7 per cent hike in Dearness Allowance

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced a Dearness Allowance (DA) hike of seven per cent for government employees and pensioners. With the latest hike, the DA for government staff has now reached 132 per cent.

The hike in DA will come into force with retrospective effect from July 1 this year, a release said.

As per an estimate, the decision will benefit four lakh government employees and three lakh pensioners in the state.

Earlier in April this year, the state government had hiked the DA by 6 per cent taking it to 125 per cent.

It may be noted that state government employees are currently getting 125 per cent DA on their basic pays which will go up to 132 per cent with this hike.
