Odisha announces cash award for winning Odia athletes at AAC
Bhubaneswar: Moments after ace Odisha sprinter Dutee Chand bagged bronze at the 22nd Asian Athletics Championships, state government today announced a cash award for every winning athlete.
As per the announcement, the state government would give away a cash award of Rs 7 lakh, Rs 5.5 lakh and Rs 2.5 lakh to gold, silver and bronze winners respectively.

Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Chandrasarathi Behera made the announcement here this evening after consulting with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
Besides, special awards will also be bestowed on athletes breaking national and international records, he added.
As per reports, state PSU Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) would sponsor the prize money to be conferred on the athletes.
