Odisha: Annual tech fest ‘Innovision’ kicks off at NIT-Rourkela

Rourkela: The three-day annual tech fest ‘Innovision’ of NIT, Rourkela was inaugurated by Rourkela Municipal Corporation (RMC) Commissioner Dr. Subhankar Mohapatra here.

Innovision, being organised by the Technical Society of Student Activity Centre at NIT, Rourkela, is one of the biggest tech fests in Eastern India.

With an average of 60 to 70 events ranging from bike race, code hunts, maze hunts, and robo wars to guest lectures and literature exhibitions, Innovision provides a wholesome experience to the participants.

The theme of this year’s tech-fest is “Innovision Chapter ’22 – A Voyage Through Time”.

Gracing the occasion as the chief guest, the RMC Commissioner advised the students to try their best to solve the real problems of the world. “You all should bring out the scientific solutions and innovations for the development of our country,” he said.

Among others, NIT Rourkela Director Prof. Umamaheshwar Rao, Registrar Prof. Rohan Dhiman, Dean (Student Welfare) Prof. S Jena and Student Activity Centre President Prof. Poonam Singh were present at the inaugural ceremony of the tech fest.

“I want all of you to enjoy and learn as this is the opportunity to innovate and show your abilities. You should focus on solutions through technology and utilize it for social causes like energy conservation, saving water resources and pollution reducing methods through developing efficient e-vehicles,” Rao said while addressing the students.

Around 8,000 students including 3,000 from institutions like ITER, SOA, OUAT, VSSUT and CET are participating in the Innovision-2022. The NIT, Rourkela has provided accommodations to the students of other institutions who are participating in the tech fest.

Guest lectures and gaming events like paintball, air rifle, remote control car racing and neon cricket were held in the first day of the tech fest. In the remaining two days, the tech fest will host several competitions among the students. Besides, it will host some entrepreneurs, tech influencers, you tubers, singers, dancers and DJs.

The NIT, Rourkela has been organizing annual tech fest Innovision since 2004.
