Bhubaneswar: A portion of an approach road of a flyover on National Highway-16 passing through Odisha capital here caved in today.
A portion of the approach road of a flyover near Aiginia in the capital city caved in while a truck was passing on the stretch at around 4 pm today.
Soon, a huge crater came up on the approach road causing panic among the commuters. The incident led to traffic snarls on NH-16.
The truck driver reportedly sustained injuries in the incident.

The locals, meanwhile, claimed that the approach road had been constructed around six months ago. They blamed poor quality construction work for the incident.
“The approach road of Aiginia flyover caved in while an empty truck was moving towards Khurda from Bhubaneswar side in the afternoon. The truck suddenly stopped on the road. However, a major mishap was averted as there was no other vehicle behind the truck. The incident has exposed the callousness of the Central government and the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) towards Odisha,” said a local.
