Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government today approved a supplementary budget of Rs 12,768 crore, which will be presented in the State Legislative Assembly during the winter session.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the State Secretariat today approved the budget.
Provision of funds has been made under the budget for the newly announced Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana, Odisha Food Security Scheme, welfare schemes for ASHA workers and pending works under Central schemes, informed Finance Minister Shashi Bhusan Behera.
As per the provisional calendar for the winter session, the supplementary budget will be placed in the Assembly on the opening day on September 4, which will be an exception in the normal practice as supplementary budgets are generally presented during the winter sessions.
Notably, the monsoon session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly will start from September 4. The 17-day session will continue till September 20 and have 11 working days.
