Odisha: Archana Nag gets bail in one more case, but to stay in jail for now

Bhubaneswar: The Orissa High Court in Cuttack has granted conditional bail to Archana Nag in connection with a case filed against her at Khandagiri police station in Bhubaneswar.

Archana’s former aide Shradhanjali Behera had lodged an FIR against the former at Khandagiri police station. In her FIR, Shradhanjali had claimed herself as a victim in an alleged sextortion case.

Basing upon the FIR, Khandagiri police had registered a case against Archana, her husband Jagabandhu Chand and their aide Khageswar Patra.

The HC had granted conditional bail to Jagabandu in connection with the case on March 15 this year.

Archana had approached the Orissa HC for bail after a sessions court in Bhubaneswar rejected the same, sources said.

Notably, the HC had earlier granted bail to Archana in a case registered against her at Nayapalli police station in Odisha capital.

Nayapalli police had registered a case against Archana on an FIR lodged by film producer Akshya Parija. Subsequently, she was arrested.

The HC has granted bail to Archana in two cases. But, Archana will continue to remain in jail as she is yet get any relief from the court in connection with a case registered against her by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
