Eminent Odisha-based sand artist Manas Kumar Sahoo’s sand sculpture at the golden beach near the Light House in Puri celebrating the Indian participation in the Common Wealth Games 2014, has received wide appreciation from tourists, art lovers and the local people.
Sahoo said he created the 20 feet long sculpture to congratulate the Indian athletes who have already won medals while wishing other Indians taking part in the Commonwealth Games 2014 at Glasgow to win more medals for the country.
“Through my sand sculpture I intend to inspire the athletes to bring more medals and pride for our nation. This sculpture shows the logo of the Common Wealth Games and seven medals around it and carries a message “Well done India! Keep going! ” the sand artist said.
It took 20 tons of sand and seven hours of hard labour to create the sculpture, he said.
