The state is facing a severe shortage of Urea as a result of which there is a clamour by the farmers all over the state. Against the Kharif allocation of 4,50,000 MT, till date 3,09,278 MT of Urea has been dispatched to the state. During the corresponding period of last year, 4,14,291 T of Urea was supplied to the state. Stating that two vessels of Urea of Indian Potash Ltd and Coromandel International Ltd have been berthed at Vizag and Kakinada Ports respectively, he urged the Centre to allocate 25,000 MT and 20,000 MT of Urea in favour of Indian Potash Ltd and Coromandel International Ltd respectively for supply to the State by 20 September.

He, further said that all the companies may be directed to expedite their supplies on a war footing to meet the needs of the farmers.

A few days back, it is to be noted, chief secretary GC Pati and Agriculture secretary Rajesh Verma had written two different letters to the Centre urging it to release of urea as soon as possible.
