Bhubaneswar: The Winter Session of Odisha Assembly was adjourned sine die today, at least 29 days ahead of the schedule.
The Winter Session of Odisha Assembly began on November 24 and it was scheduled to continue till December 31.
The Assembly functioned for only eight days. The state government had tabled supplementary Budget of Rs 16,800 crore on the first day of the Winter Session. The Assembly passed the supplementary Budget on November 30.
The House devoted seven days for official business while one day was allotted for private member’s business.
The Assembly witnessed uproarious scenes when the Opposition BJP and Congress members tried to corner the BJD government over the honey-trap case involving Archana Nag and issues related to the plight of farmers in Odisha.
The Opposition members also targeted the Treasury bench by citing the absence of several ministers in the Winter Session of Assembly. They alleged that several ministers were busy in seeking votes for BJD candidate for the December 5 Padampur by-election.
