Odisha Assembly Monsoon Session from Sept 29; House to run on Sunday

Bhubaneswar: Monsoon Session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly will be held from September 29 to October 7 in strict adherence to the COVID-19 guidelines.

Informing this,  Assembly Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro said the business of the House will run on Sunday too. As elderly people are prone to COVID-19, senior  MLAs can join the proceedings through video conferencing from their respective district headquarters, he added.

“Only October 2 (Gandhi Jayanti) will be a holiday,” said Patro.

Earlier, the Speaker had informed that all MLAs and staff of the state Assembly will undergo COVID-19 test two days before the commencement of the monsoon session. And those who test negative for the virus will be allowed to participate in the proceedings.

It is pertinent to mention here that Monsoon Session of the Parliament began today. For the first time time, MPs registered their attendance using the ‘Attendance Register’ mobile application.
