Bhubaneswar: The BJP has won 78 Assembly seats of the total 147 in Odisha while the BJD managed to get 51 and the Congress party 14 in just concluded polls.

However, the victory margins in the 2024 Assembly polls in the state vary in between the lowest number of just 37 votes to the highest figure of 51,465 votes.

BJD’s Ananta Narayan Jena has won the Assembly polls from Bhubaneswar Central constituency with the lowest margin of 37 votes. Jena managed to secure 53,759 votes while his nearest rival Jagannath Pradhan of BJP got 53,722 votes.

Aswini Kumar Patra of BJD got elected from Jaleswar Assembly seat in Balasore with a slender margin of 319 votes. Patra was polled 83,105 votes while his nearest rival Brajmohan Pradhan of BJP got 82,786 votes.

BJD candidate Arun Kumar Sahoo has won the polls from Nayagarh Assembly seat with the margin of 439 votes. Sahoo managed to secure 81,959 votes while his nearest rival Pratyusha Rajeswari Singh of BJP got 81,520 votes.

Ashok Kumar Das of Congress party has been elected from Basudevpur Assembly seat in Bhadrak district with a victory margin of 631 votes. Das was polled 77,743 votes while his nearest rival Bishnubrata Routray of BJD got 77,212 votes.

With victory margin of 802 votes, BJD nominee Madhab Dhada was declared winner from Soro Assembly constituency in Balasore district. Madhab was polled 63,642 votes while his nearest rival Parshuram Dhada of BJP managed to secure 62,840 votes.

Biswa Ranjan Mallick of BJD has been elected from Bari constituency with the highest margin of 51,465 votes in the state. BJD candidate Pradip Kumar Sahu has won the polls from Begunia seat in Khurda district with the second highest margin of 47,814 votes.

Incidentally, the highest as well as the lowest victory margins in the Assembly polls were secured by the BJD candidates.
