Odisha Assembly Standing Committee members test COVID-19 negative

Bhubaneswar: Here’s good news that all the members of Standing Committee of Odisha Assembly tested negative for COVID-19, informed chairman Debi Prasad Mishra today.

The members were present at a meeting of the Assembly Standing Committee held on July 2 following which two MLAs — Sukanta Kumar Nayak of Nilagiri Assembly Constituency and Prashant Behera of Salipur Assembly Constituency — were found COVID-19 positive.

Later, swab samples of all the legislator present during the meeting were sent for the COVID test.

Earlier, Salipur legislator recovered from the deadly virus. Yesterday, Nilagiri MLA was cured from the infection.

Currently, only Sudhanshu Sekhar Parida, the MLA of Remuna, is under treatment for COVID. He is the third legislator of Odisha Assembly to get infected with the virus. He had come in contact with Nilagiri MLA at a condolence meeting for Balasore Sadar MLA Madan Mohan Dutta, who died last month. He was in home quarantine after Nayak tested positive for COVID-19 on July 6. His swab was sent for test on July 11 and the result came out positive.
