Odisha Assly Ethics Committee begins probe in Naba Das case

The Ethics Committee of the Odisha Assembly today began its probe into the allegation pertaining to watching of objectionable video inside the House by Congress lawmaker from Jharsuguda Naba Kishore Das on December 14 last year.

“At today’s meeting we have examined the matter sent by the Speaker. The matter was discussed at the meeting. Members have been asked to give their opinions,” informed BJD MLA from Athgarh and Ethics Committee chairperson Ranendra Pratap Swain to reporters after the meeting today.

“During the probe CCTV footage and video aired on a particular TV channel will be examined. The Ethics Committee will be meeting again in the next week after it receives opinion of its members on the matter,” said BJD MLA from Barchana and member of Ethics Committee talking to reporters after the meeting.

The Ethics Committee meeting held today chaired by the committee’s chairperson Ranendra Pratap Swain and was attended by 13 members. However, BJP member was absent at today’s meeting.

The 28 member Ethics Committee has 23 members from the BJD, four from the Congress and one from the BJP.
