Odisha Assly passes three Bills amid din

The Odisha Assembly today passed three Bills within 15 minutes without any debate, while opposition Congress and BJP MLAs created ruckus in the well of the House over Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s statement on the Mahanadi issue.

The House passed three bills- The Odisha Municipal Corporation (Second Amendment) Bill, 2015, The Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Science and Research (Amendment) Bill, 2016 and The Odisha Grama Panchayats (Amendment) Bill, 2016.

While Health and Family Welfare Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak laid ‘The Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Science and Research (Amendment) Bill, 2016’ before the House and got it passed, ‘The Odisha Municipal Corporation (Second Amendment) Bill, 2015’ was moved by the Urban and Housing Development Minister Pushpendra Singhdeo.

Similarly, ‘The Odisha Grama Panchayats (Amendment) Bill, 2016’ was tabled in the House by Panchayati Raj Minister Arun Kumar Sahu.

Besides, ‘The Odisha Official Language (Amendment) Ordinance, 2016’ was laid in the House by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Bikram Arukh on behalf of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
