Nuapada: Jaylal Besra, Assistant Collector of Nuapada district, who had sustained injuries in a road accident, breathed his last after battling for life for around 50 days in hospital.

An unidentified vehicle had hit the official on December 30, last year when he was standing at Bhera Chhak in the district. He was rescued in a critical condition and admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.

Later, he was shifted to Ramkrishna Hospital in Raipur as his condition deteriorated. However, he succumbed to injuries last night while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

A pall of gloom descended on Nuapada district administration offices after the demise of Besra.
