Odisha: Balangir Ayurvedic College Principal held in DA case

Bhubaneswar: Sudarshan Behera, the Principal of Government Ayurvedic College & Hospital in Balangir, was today arrested by Odisha Vigilance for possession of disproportionate assets (DA) to his known sources of income.

Behera was produced in the court of Special Judge, Vigilance, in the capital city here.

The Vigilance department has registered a case against Behera under Sections 13(2) and 13(1)(b) of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.

During house searches, the Vigilance sleuths have unearthed movable and immovable assets worth crores from the possession of Behera and his family members.

The assets are:

1) One three-storey residential building located at Sakhigopal Block Chhak in Puri district.

2) One two-storey building located at Sriramchandrapur near Satyabadi in Puri.

3) One building over plot No.1723/588, Khata No.1733/345 at Sorisiapada in Gop area of Puri district.

4) Altogether 28 plots in prime areas of Odisha capital and Gop, Pipili and Satyabadi in Puri district.

5) Gold jewellery weighing around 250 gms.

6) Three four wheelers (Honda City 5th Gen ZX, Mahindra Scorpio & Toyota ETIOS Cross-G) and a two wheeler worth over Rs 32 lakh.

Behera and his family members were found with possession of disproportionate assets which were 113 per cent excess to his known sources of income, said an official of the Vigilance department.
