Odisha Bandh tomorrow: Know timing & the services to be hit during shutdown

Bhubaneswar: The six-hour Odisha bandh to be observed by Congress on November 12 (tomorrow) is likely to hit normal life in the state. The party has urged people of the state to extend support to the state-wide bandh.

The party will observe the bandh from 6 am to 12 noon to put pressure on the sate Government for dismissal of Minister of State (MoS) Home Dibya Shankar Mishra for his alleged link with Govind Sahu, prime accused in the sensational Mamita Meher murder case. The party has also demanded registration of criminal case and arrest of the Minister.

During the bandh, road traffic and train services are likely to get affected as the party workers will stage road blockade and Rail Roko at several places. Besides, shops and other business establishments, offices, educational institutions and petrol pumps are likely to remain shut during the shutdown. However, emergency services will be excluded from the ambit of the bandh.

Opposition BJP and Congress parties have been demanding action against Minister Mishra for his alleged for his alleged link with the prime accused in Mamita Meher murder case.

The murder of 24-year-old Mamita Meher, who worked as a teacher of Sunshine Model School at Mahaling in Kalahandi district had sent shockwaves in the state. Govind Sahu was president of the School Managing Committee.

Mamita went missing on October 8. Alleging involvement of Govind Sahu behind her missing, Mamita’s family members had lodged a complaint with police. On October 19, skeletal remains of Mamita were exhumed from the under-construction stadium of the school in the presence of police.
