Odisha banker accuses 3 top officials of sexual harassment

A 28 year-old woman probationary officer of Canara Bank has accused its AGM and two senior officials of sexual harassment in the millennium city of Odisha.

Canara Bank AGM and two senior officials have been accused of harassment by a female employee of their bank. The victim had registered a complaint in Purighat police station in Cuttack, yesterday. After registering a case, police went to the Chowdary Bazaar branch of Canara Bank and have started an inquiry into the complaint.

The unmarried girl from Kendrapada had joined the bank as a Probationary Officer (PO) last year on July 31st in the Canara Bank Chowdary Bazaar branch under Purighat police station.  According to the complainant, senior manager Brijkishore Jena, senior officer Subhash Chandra Malik, and Bhubaneswar circle manager (AGM) SBSN Rao, were harassing her in the bank. Her repeated protests fell on deaf ears, with the AGM even warning her to keep quiet over the issue or face consequences.

Each of the officials had called her separately to their  respective chambers and vulgarly gestured at her in separate instances, she had complained. They had also warned her that she will lose her job if she protests. After facing repeated harassment she went to the police.

The Purighat police station has registered the case under section IPC 354 A, 294,506. They have started an investigation into the matter.
