Bhubaneswar: Days after sword attack on two cops by a retired defence personnel, the Inspector In-Charge (IIC) of Banki police station in Odisha’s Cuttack district was transferred on Wednesday.
Banki IIC Kabuli Barik has been shifted to Bhadreshwar police station in Mahanga. Police officer Shiv Prasad Behera has been appointed as the new IIC of Banki, sources said.
Retired defence personnel Saroj Das had allegedly attacked Banki police Sub-Inspector (SI) Sambit Swain and constable Uttam Kar with a sword at Adimata Square in the locality on October 22.
The two police personnel had gone to arrest the retired defence personnel in connection with a case, sources said.
The duo had sustained injuries in the attack and was rushed to a nearby hospital by the locals.
The injured police SI was later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack after his condition deteriorated.
