Odisha: Bhattarika Temple submerged in flood water. [See pics]

Athagarh: Even famous Shakti Peeth Maa Bhattarika could not be spared from flood fury triggered by incessant rain in upper stream and downstream of Mahanadi River in Odisha, as the presiding deity was shifted to safer location after the shrine was submerged in flood water this morning.

The temple situated at Badamba on banks of Mahanadi River in Athagarh area of Cuttack district was inundated with flood water following which the idol of Goddess Bhattarika was relocated to a higher place of the hill for worship.

According to reports, the flood water is flowing 5 ft above the Huluhula bridge halting the road communication between Tigiria and Subarnapur.

Over a hindered acre of farmland has also been affected after being submerged in flood water.
