Bhubaneswar: Popular Bhojpuri actor and BJP MP Manoj Tiwari today campaigned in support of party candidate Tankadhar Tripathy for Jharsuguda bypoll, scheduled to be held on May 10.

Tiwari, a Member of Parliament (MP) from North East Delhi, participated in a bike rally at Jharsuguda to seek votes for the BJP nominee.

Bargarh BJP MP Suresh Pujari, Dhamnagar MLA Suraj Suryavanshi, BJP youth wing president Irasis Acharya and Tripathy himself also participated in the bike rally.

The bike rally started at BJP office near BTM Square at Jharsuguda and passed through localities like Siria Bagicha, Malipada, Dhipupada, Chowkipada, Telibhata and Kabristanpada before its culmination at Darsadhipatha.

Tiwari, also an acclaimed Bhojpuri singer, urged the people to vote for the BJP candidate in the upcoming bypoll for all-round development of Jharsuguda Assembly Segment.

“You all should vote for the BJP candidate to make Jharsuguda a safe and prosperous place,” Tiwari said during his campaign.

Tiwari claimed that the BJP under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed for the development of Jhrsuguda as well as the entire Odisha.

“The people of Jharsuguda should participate in the developmental works of PM Modi by supporting the BJP nominee in the May 10 bypoll,” Tiwari said.

Notably, the bypoll is necessitated due to the murder of sitting MLA Naba Das on January 29.

The BJD has fielded Das’s daughter Dipali as its candidate while the Congress party has picked former MLA Biren Pandey’s son Tarun Pandey as its nominee for the by-election.
