Odisha: Bhubaneswar-Jeypore flight cancelled due to bad weather for two more days

Jeypore: Bhubaneswar-Jeypore flight of IndiaOneAir has been cancelled due to bad weather for two more days, a source said today. However, the cancellation troubled a number of passengers.

Passengers, who had booked tickets in advance, were worried after getting phone calls in this regard.

As the weather condition was bad due to heavy rains in some districts of Odisha, the flight was cancelled on the pretext of repair. Flight services will resume and ticket bookings are open for July 19.

Flight services may further be cancelled if the weather condition persists in the days ahead, an official of Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar said on the condition of anonymity.

It is pertinent to mention, a flight of the IndiaOneAir had previously returned to Bhubaneswar on July 15 after it could not land at Jeypore Airport of Odisha’s Koraput district, due to bad weather. The nine-seater flight did not get necessary permission from the Air Traffic Control (ATC) to land.

Flight service between Bhubaneswar and Jeypore was also cancelled in the past few days.

Due to a Monsoon Trough and under the influence of a Low-Pressure Area formed over North Interior Odisha, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of Interior Odisha and at many places over the districts of Coastal Odisha. India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre today issued Yellow Warning for the next five days.

In its mid-day bulletin, the IMD regional centre mentioned, “Southwest monsoon has been active over Odisha. A cyclonic circulation is likely to form over Northwest Bay of Bengal within 48 hours.”

The highest maximum temperature of 32.8oC was recorded at Paralekhemundi and the lowest minimum temperature of 18.5oC was recorded at Boudh in the plains of Odisha.
