Odisha BJD leader Kalpataru Das’ family owns 33 plots, 8 flats

Deeper probe into the illegal possession of plots and flats by senior Biju Janata Dal leader, former Odisha minister and now a Rajya Sabha MP Kalpataru Das and his family,  has now led to further disclosures about a huge accumulation of immovable properties by Das & co.Kalapataru Das BJD MP

Reliable sources said the Das’ family owns 41 houses and plots-including eight super deluxe flats in Bhubaneswar- in the names of his wife, son and daughter-in-law.

The property graph Das’ family has witnessed a meteoric rise since 2001. The family, in the last 10 years, has been able to buy 33 plots and eight flats, of which 24 plots and five houses are in the name of his son Pranab Balabantray and two plots and two luxury flats are in the name of Pranab’s wife Ranjita.

Apart from this, there are seven large-sized plots in the name of Sukanti, wife of Kalpataru.

All these immovable properties are located in Sukinda, Vyasanagar, Bhubaneswar and New Delhi are worth crores of rupees.

A businessman-turned politician, Pranab has purchased big patches of land in Jajpur and Bhubaneswar between 2004 and 2005. He also owns a number of luxury flats in Bhubaneswar (C-103, Kalvik Vinayak Plaza and D-1, Kalvik Subham Plaza at Nayapalli, E-9, Netaji Subhas Enclave at Gadakana and 404 of Radhakrushna Enclave) and one flat at Janakpuri in New Delhi.

This apart, there are two luxury flats (B-2, Kalvik Subham Plaza and C-2, Kalvik Omkara at Nayapalli) in the name of Pranab’s wife in Bhubaneswar.

Five flats have been purchased in the name of Pranab and his wife in Bhubaneswar in 2010 while Pranab owns the C-16 flat in the Netaji Enclave taken on a discretionary quota, the sources said.

Besides, there are 7 plots in the name of Kalpataru and his mother Pratima. While Das has purchased a plot measuring 2400 sq feet at Prachi Enclave in Chandrasekharpur in the name of his wife, the other six plots are located in the state capital and Jajpur, the sources added.
