Bhubaneswar, Mar 4:
The state selection committee of the Odisha BJP is meeting today to take a call on having an alliance with some of the other parties for the coming general elections.
Talks with three such parties – Ama Odisha, Utkal Bharat and Samata Kranti – on a possible alliance or seat sharing arrangement held by senior BJP leaders Arun Jaitley and Chandan Mitra yesterday remained inconclusive.
The two central leaders, who had a meeting with state leaders here on Monday, have left the final decision on an alliance or seat adjustment in the state with the Odisha leadership.
Later in the afternoon, the party’s state leadership will meet in the presence of party’s deputy in-charge for Odisha Arun Singh to draw up a final list of candidates for the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the state.
“The party has already finalised the names of candidates from six Lok Sabha seats. The meeting today will finalise the candidates for the rest of the Llok Sabha seats and Assembly seats in the state. The list will be sent to the central election committee of the party. The names of candidates will be announced after the central election committee approves the list,” senior BJP leader and party spokesperson Suresh Pujari said.
