Odisha BJP demands transfer of IAS, IPS officers serving in one place for over 3 years

Bhubaneswar: A delegation of the BJP state unit today handed over a memorandum to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO)-Odisha Nikunja Bihari Dhal demanding the transfer of IAS and IPS officers serving in one place for over three years.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) had previously written a letter to the State government in this regard on December 1, last year. The ECI insisted on the transfer of such officials by January 31, 2024. However, the Government has not taken any step to implement the ECI order, the BJP delegation alleged.

About 10 Collectors in Odisha have been working in their respective districts for more than three years. As per government norms, any official who has already worked at a particular place and/or in a position is eligible to be transferred. This norm is not being adhered to, the party stated.

Similarly, several IAS and IPS officials have been working at one place for years together. In case the State government does not implement the ECI guideline, the BJP will move the Commission in the days ahead, the party warned.
