Odisha: BJP leader arrested for raping minor girl on marriage pretext

Malkangiri: Police today arrested a BJP leader in Odisha’s Malkangiri district for allegedly raping a minor girl on the pretext of marriage.

The accused has been identified as Abadut Prasad Durga, Secretary, BJP’s Kalimela Mandal.

According to reports, Abadut Prasad had established physical relationship with the girl multiple times on the promise of marrying her. The victim, who currently resides in New Delhi after being married to another person, lodged a police complaint in the national capital alleging that Abadut Prasad was sending her obscene messages.

The Delhi police apprised the Kalimela police about the matter, following which the local police today apprehended the accused and forwarded him to court. He has been booked under relevant Sections of the IPC, IT Act, and POCSO Act.
