A team of Odisha BJP party functionaries and MLAs today visited Manamunda town of Boudh district to hold talks with the BJP workers who were injured yesterday in an attack by Biju Janata Dal supporters.

Led by newly appointed Leader of BJP Legislature Party KV Singh Deo, the team consisted of MLA Rabi Nayak, General Secretary Bhrugu Baxipatra and Vice President Samir Mohanty.

The leaders met the injured workers in the hospital and joined a demonstration organised by the district unit of the party demanding action against the culprits.

“We had lodged a complaint against all those who were involved. Why has the investigation not started yet? We want to know what actions the administration is taking,” questioned Singh Deo.

“Even though a DSP has been given the responsibility of the enquiry, given the FIR has been lodged against two ministers, we suspect that they will influence the investigation. The Chief Minister needs to drop these two ministers from his council of ministers so that a free and fair investigation can be conducted into the matter,” he added.

The police, on the other hand, claimed that the investigations are on.

“No one has been arrested so far based on the case lodged by BJP. Even the BJD claims that their MLA has been injured. We are trying to verify their medical report. They have also lodged a case against BJP. We have registered that complaint as well and the investigations are on,” said Boudh SP Buttula Gangadhar.

It may be mentioned here that several BJD supporters, including Bolgarh MLA Prasanta Jagdev, had thrashed some BJP workers after the latter showed black flags to Ministers Sanjay Das Burma and Pushpendra Singh Deo at Manamunda yesterday.
