A delegation of the BJP today met Odisha Governor S C Jamir and demanded immediate suspension of Koraput Collector for his vindictive action against the ministerial staff of the Collectorate over the issue pertaining to grant of permission for landing to a helicopter used by Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan at Borigumma for campaigning during the recently concluded panchayat elections in the state.

“We have requested the Governor to intervene in this matter. The Collector should be immediately suspended and action should be taken against him. The Collector is saying that he has done so on instructions from the ‘Third Floor’-(CM’s office). So we have requested the Governor to write to the Chief Minister and seek an explanation from him,” informed BJP state unit general secretary Bhrugu Buxipatra speaking to reporters after meeting the Governor.

The Koraput district unit of the Odisha Rajaswa Amala Sangha (ORAS) which had rejected Collector’s revocation of suspension orders yesterday continued with its dharna in front of the Collectorate at Koraput.

Notably, on 13th of this month Union Minister Pradhan who had come for campaigning for his party candidates in the recently concluded panchayat election alighted from a helicopter at Borigumma.

Dispute arose over the giving of permission to the Union Minister’s helicopter to land.
