Odisha BJP seeks trial of Kankadahada case in fast track court

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha unit of BJP today demanded speedy trial of the accused in gangrape and murder case of the 45-year-old widow under Kankadahada police limits in Dhenkanal district in a fast track court.

Addressing a press conference here at the state party office, BJP Mahila Morcha President Prabhati Parida alleged that police are not probing properly into the case but trying to shield the main culprits of the crime.

Police are trying to protect the other accused in the case by arresting just four persons when it looks like a planned murder to protect the accused of the rape of the deceased’ niece. It is suspected that a conspiracy was hatched to eliminate her as she was the prime witness of her niece’s rape, Prabhati claimed.

“We demand trial of the case in a fast track court and immediate arrest of the main culprits of the crime, failing which the BJP Mahila Morcha will hit the streets,” she concluded.
