Odisha BJP Yuva Morcha Secretary arrested in Bhatli firing case

Bargarh: Irasis Acharya, State Secretary of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), was today arrested in connection with a firing at Bhatli in Odisha’s Bargarh district.

The Bargarh Town police had earlier summoned Acharya for questioning. He was later arrested.

Activists of the BJYM staged protest before the police station over the arrest.

Notably, Bulu Satnami (18) of Chamarpada in Sohela area of the district had died after sustaining bullet injuries in his head during a firing in front of BJP office near Acharya’s residence in Bhatli on June 1.

Satnami was initially admitted to the Bargarh district headquarters hospital in a critical condition and later shifted to VIMSAR in Burla for better treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries on the way to Burla and doctor declared him dead at VIMSAR.
