Bhubaneswar: In a bid to keep the State Capital clean and green, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has taken a tough stance. The civic body slapped a fine of Rs 50,000 on Modern Healthcare in Unit-6 of Bhubaneswar for violating garbage disposal norms, a BMC official said today.
Allegedly, Modern Healthcare had dumped medicines and some other wastes on the roadside. It is a pathology lab and diagnostic centre located on Ekamra Marg.
“Team BMC has been working day and night to keep the city clean. We will impose a fine of Rs 50,000 for spoiling the beauty of the city. Even to the extent, we will lodge FIR against the wrongdoers,” the BMC official warned.
“Notices were pasted on defunct vehicles and structures placed on the road. Action will be taken by the civic body if the owner does not take necessary steps to remove them,” the official added.
Worth mentioning, on December 11, the BMC slapped a fine of Rs 50,000 (each) on three agencies for illegally putting up ‘TO-LET’ handbills on public space in Nayapalli under this civic limit.
Several marriage mandaps, hotels, and business establishments violate garbage disposal norms. A fine of Rs 50,000 was imposed on a community centre in Mancheswar a few days ago.
