Odisha: Bodies of two youth found floating in Rengali canal

Dhenkanal: Bodies of two youth were recovered from an under-construction  canal of Rengali dam near Padmanabhpur under Dhenkanal Sadar police limits this morning.

While one of the deceased duo has been identified as Benudhar Pradhan of of Indupur village, another is yet to be identified.

Sources said some locals spotted two bodies along with a bike in the canal and called up the police. On getting information, police and a fire brigade team reached the spot and recovered the bodies. Though the exact reason behind their death is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the duo might have fallen into the water body after the bike they were travelling on lost control and plunged into the 30-feet-deep half-done canal.

Meanwhile, locals alleged that such mishaps are frequently occurring in the under construction canal due to negligence of Rengali authorities and the contractor engaged for the project.

However, investigation is on into the incident.
