Odisha: Bodies of youth, girl found on railway track in Puri; suicide suspected

Bhubaneswar: The bodies of a 30-year-old youth and a 22-year-old girl were found on the railway track near Puri station in Odisha today.

The deceased have been identified as Jatin Shankar Padhy, son of Purnachandra Padhy, of Kotpad area in Koraput and Truptimayee Sahu, daughter of Santosh Kumar Sahu, sources said.

The Government Railway Police (GRP) sent the bodies for postmortem after registering an unnatural death case, sources said.

The GRP have also found Padhy’s driving licence, his voter identity card and the girl’s Aadhaar card along with a few other documents from the spot.

“The bodies were found on the railway track near Puri station at around 7 pm. It is suspected that the duo might have ended their lives by jumping before a moving train,” said a GRP official.
