Odisha boils as 11 places record above 40 deg Celsius

Bhubaneswar: The coastal state of Odisha is reeling under the effect of the scorching sun as 11 stations crossed the 40 degree Celsius mark today.

Three stations in western part of the state recorded more than 45 degrees Celsius, namely Titlagarh at 45.5, Sonepur at 45.4 and Sambalpur at 45.1.

Furthermore, temperature in Jharsuguda, Malkangiri and Hirakud rose to 44.8, 44.4 and 44.1 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Angul reeled under the impact of the heatwave at 42.1 degree Celsius today according to the evening weather bulletin released by the Regional Meteorological Centre.

As the coastal state turned into a boiling cauldron Talcher, Sundergarh, Baripada and Keonjhar logged temperatures of 41.8, 41.5. 41.4 and 41.0 degrees Celsius, respectively.

According to weathermen, heatwave will prevail in Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundergarh, Deogarh, Angul, Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Kalahandi, Bolangir and Nuapada for the next 24 hours.
